Cypress Bonsai is a deciduous conifer also known as Taxodium Distichum.  There are two main varieties of Cypress - Common Bald Cypress Bonsai and Swamp Cypress Bonsai.  The Cypress Bonsai is a very hardy long lived deciduous conifer.  ASs the name implies, likes to grow in wet soil.  The conifer produces fibrous, reddish brown closely ridged bark that looks very old.  The narrow bright yellow green leaves grow in flattened rows on the tree.  The leaves will  turn colors in the fall, initially red and then quickly changing to orange before falling off the Cypress tree.

The Cypress Bonsai makes a very distinctive statement in any bonsai garden and can be used in both formal and informal style gardens comfortably.  All bonsai techniques work well with he Cypress.  With its sprawling root system, the Cypress is especially suited for grow on rock technique. CLICK highlighted text for Wire Bonsai Trees

The Cypress Bonsai is a hardy conifer that needs to be repotted every two years.  The potting soil needs to be kept moist for the plant to flourish.  Water every two weeks at a minimum.  If the soil becomes dry, place the potted Cypress into a larger pot filled with water.  Once the potted soil becomes moist, remove the Cypress pot from the larger pot. Fertilizer to feed the conifer should be added  in waterings from late spring to late summer. Click here for fertilizer

The Cypress Bonsai can be grown from seeds or soft cuttings and does equally well for both methods.  The Cypress Bonsai makes a very pretty show piece for any bonsai garden.  The Cypress ends to live a
n extremely long time.  It looks very old even in young years and really adds a centerpiece to all bonsai gardens. For additional bonsai cypress tree's and care information Click here
