The care of bonsai is not very different from maintaining any garden.  However, because of the nature of bonsai -  minature versions of larger trees and shrubs - pruning is very important.  The time of the year when you prune a plant is very important.  Some bonsai are trimmed and pruned in early spring whiles others prefer  a summer or fall prune.  Feeding and watering is also very important.  Each bonsai plant has its own preferences.

A Bonsai is a tree or shrub grown in a container that is a minature version of the tree or shrub that grows naturally in the wild.  The Bonsai tree or shrub will not exceed 70 cm in length (less than 3 feet).

A natural bonsai has no obvious man made design elements visible to the eye .  There are no sudden big changes on the taper of trunks or branches.  The trunk and branches will have a nice flowing natural taper to them.
